Eragy was founded by three industry veterans with over 50 years of experience in home automation, energy management, IT, and enterprise software and services.

The Eragy team has a proven track record of starting companies from inception and leading them to market leadership positions and providing successful exits for their investors through acquisitions and IPOs.

David E. Schantz, Co-Founder & President

David Schantz has over 22 years experience in high technology, including telecom, Internet backbone, smart home and energy. He previously served as a General Partner of Matrix Partners where he helped in the formation of numerous telecommunications equipment, storage systems and software startups. Mr. Schantz served on the board of directors of Airvana, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRV), Appian Communications, Inc., Netezza, Inc. (NYSE:NZ), Sandburst, Inc. (Sold to Broadcom), Silverback Technologies, Inc. (Sold to Dell), and Snowshore networks, Inc. (Sold to Brooktrout). Previously, he held senior product management and engineering positions with Bay Networks (Wellfleet Communications) and AT&T Bell Labs.

David Schantz received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Stony Brook University and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.

Dr. Erik Frederick, co-founder and Vice President

Dr. Erik Frederick is an information strategy and management professional with over 17 years experience and expertise in software and enterprise architecture, database design, and scientific computing. He has been a key member of multiple venture-backed startups in the biotech industry and was previously the Director of Scientific Computing at Nuada Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Frederick formed a technology consulting company that builds software for partners in the pharmaceutical and medical software industries and recently served on the board of directors of SharedVue, Inc, (acquired by UBM, LTD).

Erik Frederick holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and received a Ph.D from Duke University in Biomedical Engineering.

Mark Komanecky, Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Mark Komanecky has held a number of senior operational, marketing, and engineering positions in the home automation, networking, and telecom industries. Mr. Komanecky has served on the executive team of multiple venture-funded startups, including Broadband Access Systems (VP and co-founder; acquired by ADCT) and TranSwitch (IPO). Before joining Eragy, he was the founder of simpleHome, a custom electronics integration firm with three offices in the northeastern U.S. He previously held senior marketing, sales, and engineering positions with Lucent Technologies and AT&T Bell Labs.

Mark Komanecky received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude) from Syracuse University and an M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Eric Labow, co-founder and Vice President

Eric Labow is an information technology professional with over 18 years of experience with expertise in project life cycle management, software engineering, and database design and performance. In 2004, Mr. Labow founded Oak9 Solutions Inc., a technology consulting company that builds and manages software platforms for partners in the pharmaceutical and medical software industries.

Eric Labow holds a degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech.

Ken Huber, Advisor

Ken Huber’s distinguished career has included senior roles at PJM Interconnection and AT&T. He is currently a consultant for PJM with responsibilities for conceiving, developing and applying new technology to address the needs of PJM’s business units and utility members. Huber is currently focused on Smart Grid technologies, including storage and plugin hybrid electric vehicle implementation.

Prior to joining PJM, Mr. Huber held a number of senior positions in corporate strategy and innovation at AT&T and AT&T Bell Laboratories. Huber holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, a M.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Drexel University and is the holder of 12 patents.
